Students need to maintain regular and punctual attendance to help achieve success in school. For some students, one tardy or one absence can make it difficult for them to succeed. We expect our students to be in school except in cases of emergency or one of the following reasons: personal illness, illness in the family, death of a relative, quarantine of the home, doctor appointment for illness, and other special reasons pre-arranged with the principal. We encourage students to arrange their dental and other appointments for after school hours. We invite you to refer to the student handbook for an explanation of excused absences and unexcused absences.

We require a parent/guardian to complete a Student Health Card as part of registration. A parents/guardian will need to update this card as needed. Students who must take medication during the school day, whether prescription or nonprescription, must bring that medication to the student’s teacher. The teacher/assistant will administer medication(s) to the student. Parents must complete a medication authorization form for all medications and must also complete a physician authorization form or any long-term medications, prescription or non-prescription.

Medication must be in the original container with the label intact, including name, dosage, and the expiration date of the medication. The student’s name MUST be on the bottle. Parents should send only a school week’s supply at a time. The student may pick up the empty container on Friday. The parent/guardian is responsible for notifying the school of any changes concerning the administration of medication. A student with asthma may possess and use asthma medication when on school properties and at school sponsored events. The school district shall incur no liability as a result of any injury sustained by the student from self-administration of asthma medication.

At present, Kosciusko High School has parking spaces to accommodate student drivers as long as students properly use them. Students must remember that parking privileges on school property are just that—privileges. Failure to operate the vehicle responsibly and safely can result in the loss of the privilege.

The Kosciusko School Administration reserves the right to search, with probable cause, any or all vehicles parked on the school campus. All drivers must follow these regulations:

1. Drive carefully and thoughtfully at all times.
2. There must be no speeding, reckless driving, racing of engines, or squealing of tires.
3. No students are to be in a parked car on the campus at any time.

The school will not accept delivery of flowers, balloons, candy grams, etc. and will direct the delivery to the students’ home.
