KSD Board of Education Names Dr. Danya Turner as Superintendent  

The Kosciusko School District Board of Education voted unanimously on Thursday evening, during a special called board meeting, to name Dr. Danya Turner as the Superintendent of Education for Kosciusko School District.

Danya Turner is a results-driven educational leader with a proven track record of fostering positive and inclusive school cultures. He brings a strong commitment to academic excellence, effective leadership, and student success, and is dedicated to contributing meaningfully to the continued growth and achievement of the district.

Turner currently serves as Principal of Louisville High School, a role he has held since 2020. During his tenure, he has successfully led initiatives focused on maintaining high academic standards while cultivating a positive learning environment. He has established clear expectations for both academic achievement and student behavior, building a school culture rooted in trust, excellence, and inclusivity.

As a school leader, Turner has demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, curriculum development, and staff leadership. His commitment to student success is reflected in his implementation of data-driven instructional strategies, the cultivation of collaborative learning environments, and the promotion of effective communication within the school community. He excels in building strong relationships with students, parents, and staff to create a supportive and engaging atmosphere conducive to learning. With a passion for educational excellence, he is dedicated to driving continuous improvement and achieving measurable results.

Turner holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Supervision from the University of Phoenix (2017), a Bachelor of Arts degree from Liberty University, and an Associate’s degree from Holmes Community College in Mississippi. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) from Mississippi State University, with a tentative graduation date of May 2026. His educational background has equipped him with the strategic insight and leadership skills necessary to guide schools and districts toward sustained success.

Danya Turner and his wife, Lassandra Turner, have been married for 26 years and share a strong commitment to faith, family, and community. They are the proud parents of three sons: Donavan (24), Devean (24), and Mitchell (17), who continue to be their greatest joy and inspiration.
