Registration

The parent of a student seeking to enroll must provide the Kosciusko School District with the following items: 

• A mortgage document, filed homestead exemption, property deed, OR
• A home lease (12-month):
  • Must be current and include an ending date.
  • Must be signed by the homeowner and the tenant.
  • Must have the name of every occupant listed on the lease.
  • Must provide a copy of the property deed or Township and Range document from the homeowner.
  • If the property is managed by a property management company, documentation showing the agreement between the homeowner and the property management company must be provided, OR
• An apartment lease (12-month):
  • Must be current and include an ending date.
  • Must be signed by the property owner or management company and the tenant.
  • Must have the name of every occupant listed on the lease, AND
• A utility bill (electric, gas, water, cable, satellite, garbage, or landline) showing residence property address. 
   

In addition to providing documentation of residency as outlined above, a student who is living with a legal guardian who resides in the Kosciusko School District will submit a stamped, filed copy of the final decree approving the guardianship or a certified copy of the filed petition for guardianship if the matter is currently pending before the court.
 

All affidavits of residency are processed through the District Office. A parent or legal guardian residing in a home or property that is not owned or leased in their name must provide proof of residency at the District Office before a student may be enrolled. The parent or legal guardian and the homeowner or leaseholder must meet with District Office personnel each year to complete the affidavit process. Both parties must be present and must provide the required documentation listed below:
 

A.   Owner/Leaseholder Must Provide:

  • Must be signed by the homeowner and the tenant.
  • Must have the name of every occupant listed on the lease.
  • Must provide a copy of the property deed or Township and Range document from the homeowner.

• An apartment lease (12-month):
  • Must be current and include an ending date.
  • Must be signed by the property owner or management company and the tenant.
  • Must have the name of every occupant listed on the lease, AND
• A utility bill (electric, gas, water, cable, satellite, garbage, or landline) showing residence property address.  

 
B.   Parent/Guardian Living with Owner/Leaseholder Must Provide One of the Following: 

• Valid Mississippi driver’s license or state identification with residence property address or
• Automobile registration (valid during current school year) showing residence property address. 

C.   Parent/Guardian Living with Owner/Leaseholder Must Provide Two of the Following:

• One utility bill (electric, gas, water, cable, satellite, garbage, or landline),
• Bank statement (mobile payment services are not acceptable),
• Check stub or W2, or
• Medical billing in the parent/guardian’s name, current and showing residence property address. 

Note:
If documentation is approved, the parent/guardian must attest that the parent/guardian and the student live with the owner/leaseholder full-time and must sign an “Affidavit Statement of Legal Residency” form. Once residency has been verified through the District Office, the parent/guardian must also complete enrollment at the school.
